Samuel Ogundipe, the founder of online Nigerian news outletPeoples Gazette, said access to its website has been restricted by mobile telecommunications companies including MTN, Glo, and 9mobile at the end of January.
The news outlet resolved to use alternative URLs in wake of the restriction. However, a source said those URLs were immediately blocked by the telecom firms.
Last October, the news platform published a story about the son of Ibrahim Gambari -the chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari -and how he allegedly leads the strongest political power bloc in Nigeria.
Ogundipe and others believe this has led to censorship.
