Officials in Abu Dhabi, UAE have announced the launch of a university of artificial intelligence (AI). The Mohammad Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) will offer two-year master programmes and four-year PhD programmes focusing on three main fields: machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing. The university is open to both local and international graduate students; applications are open and first classes will start in September 2020. The establishment of the university, advertised as the world's first graduate-level AI university, is in line with the UAE's strategy of leveraging advanced technologies, and AI in particular. The new educational centre is expected to develop human capacity in the field of AI and contribute to the creation of 'an active AI community in the UAE developing innovative applications for businesses and government', according to Dr Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of State and chairman of the university's board of trustees.
