World Health Organization (WHO) launched the RESPECT Women website during the Women Deliver Conference in Rwanda. The website aims to effectively prevent and respond to violence against women and girls. Pascale Allotey, Director of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Research at WHO and head of the UN Special Programme on Human Reproduction (HRP), stressed that the new website supports the process of cooperation between governments in investing in evidence-based resources to prevent and address violence while advancing gender equality.
The RESPECT women website actively supports the Action Coalition's lead in preventing gender-based violence. It provides assistance for putting the seven research-based tactics from the RESPECT framework for women into practice. It includes guides on how to effectively implement programs, as well as training resources and multimedia materials for advocacy purposes. Sixteen nations have adopted the platform, but only 40% have national policies incorporating at least one of the three fundamental RESPECT initiatives.
