Uzbekistan's Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change has announced an Action Plan with the Association of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan, encompassing various initiatives such as the construction of a waste incineration plant, the establishment of a high-tech industrial park (eco-industrial park), and the implementation of an online environmental monitoring system for key polluting enterprises, along with wastewater treatment technologies.
Furthermore, ongoing cooperation will facilitate the exchange of expertise and best practices in combating desertification and promoting the creation of green belts. Additionally, discussions have included proposals for developing green technology projects, household and solid waste recycling, air pollution prevention, and eco-tourism.
Uzbekistan ranks as the second-largest producer of e-waste in Central Asia, trailing only Kazakhstan, according to the latest Global E-waste Monitor. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in collaboration with the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Environmental Protection (SCRUEEP) and the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communication (MITC), is currently assisting the government in developing e-waste policies and regulations.
