Senior US and Russian cybersecurity officials meet in Geneva to build-up on efforts to prevent countries running into cyber-conflict, CNN reports. The meeting is the first after the bilateral cybersecurity agreement reached by the two parties in 2013 which has set up confidence-building measures including a cyber-hotline, operational link between the CERTs, and a bilateral working group to extend the cooperation related to national security concerns. The meeting may not, however, be a continuation of this bilateral cooperation process which was frozen by Washington in 2014 due to tensions over the situation in Ukraine, but may rather focus on broader international aspects of cybersecurity and information security, including the work of the UN Group of Governmental Experts and the OSCE on global norms and confidence-building measures.
