Two-and-half-year ban of access to Wikipedia in Turkey has been ruled as unconstitutional by the Turkish Constitutional Court on 26 December, 2019. According to a news report , the judges found that the act violated freedom of expression which is enshrined in the country's constitution and ordered that the ban be lifted.

Katherine Maher, CEO of the Wikimedia Foundation in her reaction to the ruling as captured in a press release said "today's decision from the Turkish Constitutional Court is an important step for the right to knowledge. The country's highest court has taken a stand in favor of freedom of expression and access to information for the people of Turkey, setting a precedent for countries around the world.
