The Irish Data Protection Commission is currently investigating 18 cases of GDPR breach by major US tech companies such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Apple. Most of the investigations are in the advanced stages, with decisions expected by the end of June 2019. Although Ireland is the seat of many tech companies, this would be the first instances of the Irish Data Protection Commission issuing fines for the breach of GDPR.
