The US authority National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) considered that Amazon punished two activist employees by firing them without reasonable cause. The NLRB decision is a sign that the body is prepared to accuse Amazon of unfair labor practices. The employees dismissed by Amazon had organized the Amazon Employees for Climate Justice group to protest against Amazon's partnership with the oil and gas industry. More than 350 employees participated in the movement.
Amazon has increasingly been under pressure to improve its employees and collaborators' work conditions since the company's operations have skyrocketed with the Covid-19 pandemic. Since February 2020, more than 37 separate labor rights cases have been filed against Amazon. The company has recently apologised for having its drivers forced to pee in bottles.
