The National Family Health Survey shows that over 60% of women in 12 states and union territories (UTs) in India have never used the Internet. In comparison, in 7 states, around 50% of men have used the Internet. Literacy in India remains a great concern. Less than 40% of women had 10 or more years of schooling in 8 states and UTs. Less than 50% of men had 10 or more years of schooling in 9 states and UTs. 'Literacy refers to men and women who have completed 9 grades or more, and men and women who can read a whole sentence or part of a sentence'.
