Mastercard, Samsung, Airtel Africa, and Asante Financial Services Group partnered to kick off their pay-on-demand payments platform to boost the digital economy across Africa. The platform seeks to provide financing opportunities to consumers, entrepreneurs, and merchants across the continent to address the socio-economic problems stemming from restricted access to financing. The payments platform is meant to further drive digital and financial inclusion and promote improved economic possibilities for people and businesses by enabling digital access to everyday products and services for underserved consumers and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). 'As market organizers, [Mastercard is] always partnering with like-minded organisations to advance financial inclusion for individuals and MSMEs by empowering them with the right digital solutions. This Pay-on-Demand platform enables us to deliver on that promise, giving consumers an opportunity to participate in digital commerce while fostering digital and financial inclusion across the country,' noted, Mastercard Executive Vice President, Market Development, Middle East and Africa, Amnah Ajmal.
