The Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) office in India was launched to help increase the contribution of the digital economy to the gross state domestic product to 30%. The state government envisages the KDEM to be industry-friendly and to this purpose has permitted a 51% stake to industry associations while retaining a minority holding of 49%. Furthermore, to reduce the rural-urban divide, the government will improve connectivity to remote parts and establish the required infrastructure to provide 24/7 electricity.
