The Chief Minister of the Indian state of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, inaugurated a genome data centre in Kochi. Established in collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB), the centre will store and analyse genomic data for precision medicine and research into genetic diseases. The centre is expected to promote research into rare diseases and genetic disorders and improve patient healthcare outcomes. The facility is equipped with advanced computational and analytical tools, and the data collected will be subject to strict confidentiality and privacy regulations. The Kerala Genome Data Centre has been planned to store and handle a large amount of genetic data. The centre aims to create a platform for sharing genomic data and knowledge with researchers and clinicians across India and globally.
