Google releases Secure AI Framework for generative AI tech

jun, 12, 2023 Hi-network.com

The Safe Artificial Intelligence Framework (SAIF) launched by Google aims to address the regulatory issues and potential risks associated with generative AI while minimising the potential for misuse. As AI increasingly appears in products worldwide, adhering to a responsible framework is imperative. The six key elements of SAIF include:

1. Integrating robust security measures in AI landscape involves leveraging secure-by-default infrastructure and expertise, adapting protections to AI systems, applications, and users, and developing organizational knowledge.

2. Expanding AI detection and response: Real-time monitoring is crucial for detecting and responding to AI-related cybersecurity incidents, incorporating threat intelligence and generative AI systems to enhance response capabilities.

3. Automating defences to monitor existing and potential threats: AI-based solutions can help organisations improve their response to security incidents.

4. Alignment of platform-level controls to ensure consistent security across the organisation: Google aims to extend secure defences to AI platforms like Vertek AI and Security AI Workbench, integrating controls and protections into the software development lifecycle.

5. Adapting controls to incorporate mitigation measures and create faster feedback loops for AI deployment: Continuous learning and testing AI protection implementations ensure they address evolving threat landscapes using reinforcement learning techniques, enabling strategic response to attacks based on incidents and user feedback.

6. Putting the risks of AI systems into the context of business processes: It is important to conduct comprehensive risk assessments of AI development and deployment in organisations, including end-to-end business risk assessment, data provenance, performance evaluation, and application-specific behavioural monitoring.
