Google India has launched a free and open-source machine learning model called theMultilingual Representations For Indian Languages(MuRIL) for 16 Indian languages. MuRIL is designed to help computer systems understand different local Indian languages to solve language complexities involved in transliteration and understanding of context and sentiment behind statements. The project aims to improve the translation of online content allowing interoperability between Indian languages and allow search users to switch search results from English to Tamil, Telugu, Bangla, Marathi. Google will also give the possibility to show content in Hindi, Bangla, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. Google Maps will support one of nine Indian languages regardless of the system language.
