The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed one more time a lawsuit against Facebook with the same overall arguments as the original which was rejected by a federal judge. The FTC alleges that Facebook's acquisitions of Instagram and WhatsApp created a monopoly in social networking and this should be broken up. The new lawsuit includes more facts and analysis to support the Commission's allegations. The director of the bureau of competition at the FTC claims that Facebook was struggling to survive the transition to mobile when it decided to illegally acquire new social media: 'after failing to compete with new innovators, Facebook illegally bought or buried them when their popularity became an existential threat'.
