European Parliamentary Research Service (EURS) published a report about the effects of 5G telecommunication networks on human health. While the 5G technology allows people to download or upload one gigabit of data per second and enables instantaneous connectivity, whether there is a negative effect on human health and environment that comes with the technological breakthrough remains a question. There is currently no consensus as to whether 5G negatively affects human health, however, medical doctors and researchers argue that there are harmful impacts from electromagnetic fields (EMF) exposure, which will increase with the 5G implementation. The EURS pointed out that the current regulation in place to limit exposure of the public to electromagnetic fields is 20 years old and needs an update to reflect technical characteristics of 5G.
