The communication highlights the need to provide the wider population and professionals with digital skills which are essential for a more resilient society in the digital age. Safe and secure digital infrastructure as well as digitalisation of public services and digital transformation of the business sector feature amongst the topics addressed by the communication. The document sets forward the notion of 'digital citizenship' that sheds light on fundamental rights and principles that should be incorporated into digital technologies, goods and services.
