The Egyptian Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait announced the ministry's initiative to fully integrate its electronic systems by the end of June 2021, establish financial discipline, raise the efficiency of public spending, and modernise and automate Egypt's customs and tax administration systems. As per the Minister's announcement, following a trial operation that started on 30 June, the electronic tax invoice system will become mandatory as of November 2020. Additionally, the ministry is upgrading the customs administration system with an electronic system that is expected to manage approximately 90% of Egypt's exports and imports by the end of December 2020.
