According to the IDTechEx report titled 'Digital Water Networks 2020-2030', digital water technologies are expected to transform the water management landscape with an estimated market value of USD 2 billion by 2030. The report explored the role of digital technology, namely Internet of Things (IoT) and data in monitoring, identifying maintenance issues and compliance with regulation in the context of water management.
The report acknowledges that even though the water industry is behind in terms of digitalisation, tech can help address the question of water shortages in cities like Cape Town in Africa.
