On the African continent, the Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum (DRIF23) has urged for balanced regulation and a sustainable internet for all.
The panel will focus on the enormous cost of creating internet infrastructure and the requirement for political and governmental goodwill in its 10th forum, which begins on 12 April in Nairobi. Under the banner of 'Building A Sustainable internet For All,' the three-day event is anticipated to bring together representatives from government, non-governmental organizations, academia, media, funding partners, the UN, the technical community, and the private sector within the digital ecosystem.
The forum's sessions will be centred on censorship, data protection, universal service fund utilization, and internet shutdowns. The existing connectivity gaps in Africa need to be regulated.
