The Center for Internet Society (CIS), a US-based non-profit organisation, announced that it will offer a Malicious Domain Blocking and Reporting (MDBR) service at no cost to all public and private hospitals in the USA. The service provides an additional layer of cybersecurity protection. In the statement, the CIS noted that cyberattacks on health systems and patients have escalated during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also reflected on an incident in October 2020, where a woman died after being diverted from a local emergency care to a facility 20 miles away because the local hospital's servers had been encrypted during a ransomware attack.
