The Nigerian President Major General Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated the Presidential Council on Digital Economy and E-government to support his administration reap the benefits of digital technologies in transforming the economy. The President nominated the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Isa Ali Ibrahim to chair the 27-man Committee whose members represent different stakeholders including government, business, and academia. He also instructed such members to collaborate to reinforce the capacity of the government to develop, adopt, and deploy digital technologies to make government more efficient and transparent, hence improving Nigeria's global standing in the ease of doing business index. According to the president, members of the council would provide the oversight needed to bring about a veritable structure for accelerating achievements in the digital economy and in the implementation of e-government in the country.
