Brazil's senate head Rodrigo Pacheco has proposed a new framework for AI in the country, which aims to address issues such as intellectual property, system biases, impacts on employment, data protection, and data sovereignty. The proposal establishes general norms for the responsible development and implementation of secure AI systems, focusing on protecting fundamental rights.
The bill also incorporates provisions for governance, oversight, and accountability by establishing an AI oversight body connected to the executive branch of the government. While the use of AI has raised concerns regarding biases and job displacement, Pacheco's bill does not directly address these issues.
