26 attorney generals in the USA have submitted a letter to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to strengthen the rules to prohibit websites, mobile applications, and other digital marketing companies from collecting personal information from children under 13 and using that information to track children online. They urged the FTC to expand the definition of personal information by including faceprints that unlock smartphones, health data collected by smartwatches, and genetic information of children. The FTC is also urged to take action on companies that embed code that collect children's data for behavioral advertising purposes.
